The Tennis Physio

Tennis is a complex sport requiring a mixture of speed, agility and power from the entire body.

The Tennis Physio works with players and their coaches to achieve consistent & pain-free performance.

The Tennis Physio not only treats the  'off-court player' (mobility, strength, stability, flexibility) but also teams up with the player and their coach/parent to treat the 'on-court player' (equipment, technique, tactics & strategy, load monitoring), to keep the player on court, performing at their best.

Who is The Tennis Physio?

Meet Nick Ilic, a Registered Physiotherapist, Qualified Coach (Tennis Australia) and Tennis League Manager with a keen understanding of sports biomechanics, injury diagnosis and rehabilitation.

Nick has been a contracted Physiotherapist to Tennis Australia and provided Physiotherapy and Sports Medicine services for Tennis Australia and ITF tennis tournaments.

Operating under the brand ‘The Tennis Physio’, Nick works closely with Tennis players and their coaches to enhance performance whilst reducing injury risk.

Nick grew up in northwest Sydney, chasing yellow fuzzy balls at Epping YMCA tennis courts from an early age and playing Tennis, Soccer and Cricket through school until he enlisted in the Australian Army as a Soldier. Nick had a successful deployment to Afghanistan in 2007/08 where he was awarded a Commanding Officers Commendation. Post-deployment he settled in Canberra with his wife Veronica (Registered Nurse) and regularly hit the courts whilst studying a Bachelor of Applied Science (Human Biology) followed by a Master of Physiotherapy at the University of Canberra. With two kids of his own, Nick’s Dads jokes are world renown and he draw his powers from the eyerolls of tennis kids from across Canberra.

Nick was looking to further develop and improve his own game to be competitive at the next level (AMTs/UTRs). In 2016 he founded the Canberra Heavy Hitters, a tennis league organisation which aims to provide accelerated player development opportunity for advanced club players of all ages in full 3-sets singles match play, the only competitive, flexible singles league in Canberra. Additionally, CHH provides a gateway for Juniors who are aiming to compete in semi-professional tournaments to gain valuable match experience in a competitive environment. CHH has given away over almost $20,000 in prizemoney and is continuing to grow in numbers every year.
